WEEK 2
HANUM: This week,
we have learnt on the core attributes that would be entrepreneurs must have
before embarking in the journey to start a business. These attributes are
essential in order to help future entrepreneurs to remain focus towards their
goal and also as to help them make better choices in their business. The
self-competency analysis consists of initiative, viewing and grabbing
opportunities, steadfast, information seeking commitment to agreements,
systematic planning, solving problems, self-confidence and iron- willed. It is
interesting to know that these attributes are purely logical in order for a
person to start a business and I don’t think one should solely depend on what
is written in the books. Instead, one can just think about these traits and apply
it before, during and after one has started a business.
FARAH: After learning how to defferentiate a businessman and an
entreprenuer and also the concept of entreprenuership in the previous lesson,
it made it easier for me to understand the essential business ethics and
characteristics an entrepreneur must have to become a succesfulentreprenuer
such as Bill Gates and the late Steve Jobs.
Not only have I learnt that this week, I also was able to understand why
an entreprenuer needs to have all those qualities for without it it would be
difficult to be succesful. Not all of us are born with entreprenuership
qualities but we can try to have them. It takes determination, as not all
changes can be seen overnight. I also was able to see that generally, the attributes
promote having good work ethics, which would result in a trusting relationship
between the company and the customer.
AFIQAH:In today’s
lecture, we learned about the concept and development of entrepreneurship. According
to Kuratko & Hodgetts (2007), entrepreneurs means people who identify opportunities
where others see obstacles and confusion, meticulous, adept at weighing
chances, plans, manages and take on risks as well as being innovative, profit
and growth oriented. They are people who dare to take risks and become the
pioneers of successful business activities. In entrepreneurship, the attributes
is very important. Each of the entrepreneurs should follow them whether it is
according to Kao (1991) or the Islamic perspective or to be better, follow
both. For
a developing country like Malaysia, entrepreneurship is very important. It
helps in change and growth of national economy and encourages wealth
distributions. Entrepreneurship also contributes to economic well-being.
Besides, it also makes the nation becomes more competitive as it opens
employment oppurtunities by providing job oppurtunities in business and thus,
the unemployment.
HASNA:The
class started with the lecturer given us a website that will help us throughout
our lesson for that semester. The lecturer also gives us the distribution mark
for that subject. Our first assignment was to set up a blog and invite people
to buy our product. We were also being told something about the nine building blocks
that we should put in our blog. He said that in business world, the most
important thing we should have is creativity. Creativity is a process of
finding solution towards a problem. We learn that entrepreneur was important as
it become the catalyst for change and growth of national economy. It also act
as the engine of creativity and innovation that will make the nation be well
known internationally. ‘intrependre’ means ‘to shoulder or try’. These suggest
that entrepreneurs have a responsibility role in society by providing
products/services the society requires. Entrepreneurship means a dynamic
process to create wealth, taking on capital risk, time and career commitment.
They also invent something new via talking financial, psychological and social
risk and acquire profits, personal satisfaction and freedom.
FATIN: The lecturer introduced himself to the class and he gave us
a website about this course as guidance for us throughout the semester. He told
us what this course is all about to give us a picture of the course. He also told us assessment that we have to
complete throughout the semester. First task that we have to do is to create a
blog where we have to write our reflection of the class every week. After that,
he explained to us in brief what is actually business and entrepreneurship and
how exactly people run business.
IRDINA:
In
this 2nd week, the lecturer asks us to make a blog for our business
and to write reflection for every class. In this class, we learnt about self-competency
analysis. This includes entrepreneurship abilities and attributes of
entrepreneurship. What attracted me the most in this class is the
story of the successful people in the business field. Steve Jobs and Warren Buffett are wonderful
people.
LUBNA:
I
didn’t really know anything about entrepreneurship before I attend this class. I
was curious and interested in business and entrepreneurship so I really looked
forward for this class. Through this class, I learnt about the basic concept of
entrepreneurship. I also learnt about the importance of entrepreneurship. To
add, I now know that entrepreneurs do not only run business activities but they
have the qualities such as being innovative, creative and unique in their
customer oriented business. Entrepreneurs must also know how to spot
opportunities when others see obstacles. Entrepreneurship also includes many
risks such as financial, psychological and social risk. Thus, to become a
successful entrepreneur, one must have full commitment, determination and
willing to face the risks. Entrepreneurship is also being viewed through
Islamic perspective. Good entrepreneurs must have high dedication, right
intention, knowledge and skills about business and of course, good
communication skills. Lastly, I learnt a bit of history in this class. It
refreshed my memory of learning History in high school. I can still remember
some of the information and facts such as the Malaccan Sultanate and the
British’s divide and rule system. The lecturer gave us a website that will help
us for this course. He also informed us the marks distribution.
